Party at the house...

Last weekend was hectic. My mom came into town, we had a party at the house and the we spent the weekend running around. Mom helped me clean before
the party and after the party. That was a big help.

I have a group of friends that I have not seen in years. We use to get together at least 4 times a year and take turns hosting parties. I decided that it had been too long and pulled one together. It was great seeing everyone. There were 2 of the original group that did not show. That would be Pedro and Joselyn. David, Michelle and Rey were there. I had a few people from my current job and some of my long time friends as well.
I was surprised by the big Birthday brownie. Wendi then surprised me on Sunday with an early birthday gift of painting pottery for the day. We had a great time.. Jesse was our chauffeur and coffee runner for the day while we painted.
On my actual birthday Jesse made me a birthday breakfast and dinner. MMMMM Flank Steak!! And!! Jesse gave me a new camera. I am so excited!! It's right before our vacation so I have to learn how to use it quickly. So the next blog will have pictures from my new camera.
I will write more later...

Jesse's 30th Birthday

First I want to say that I am very proud of Jesse for making his first post.

Well he finally turned 30. It was hard keeping his mom a secret. I told him I needed to run out in the morning and pick up one of his presents. I surprised him with his mom coming in on his birthday. The 3 of us went to the beach for a few hours and had a beer at one of the bars. We then went home to freshen up and meet everyone for dinner at Bobby Rubinos. Wendi, Chris, Julio, Lisa and Zak showed to celebrate the event. Dinner was good but the blues bar was even better. We ended up at the Backroom Blues Bar in Boca Raton. We ended our day with cold beer and listening to a live blues band.

I thought I would make a post this week for a special reason. Tomorrow I turn 30. Logically I know it is another day, but no matter how I see it, I will be entering my fourth decade on this planet tomorrow.

In some ways I have been much older my whole life and in other ways I will always have an idealistic and young view of things. Too many people are done making any impact on this world, and are only consuming time and earthly resources. I refuse to let this happen.

Anyway, since today is the last day that I can be trusted, please take to heart what I have written, and ignore me tomorrow.

Enjoying the Summer

It's been very hot lately but we have managed to keep cool. This past weekend we took another trip to Chiefland. We left Friday night and got in before sunset. Saturday morning we woke early and drove to Ichetucknee Springs State Park , just outside of Fort White. We passed through Trenton on our way there and the scenery was beautiful. Lot's of land and Moo Cows. The drive took us around an hour or so and as we got into town we saw the first of many inner tube stands. We stopped and rented a double tube for 9.00. I was trying to decide if we should have our own tube or double tube it. So the lady at the stand says "This could be a honeymoon tube or a divorce tube". I looked over at Jesse and said maybe we should get our own.. lolol We decided on the double and fortunately it worked out for the best.

As you can see in the picture we waited in a long line to get into the park so Jesse could drop me off with the tube. He then drove the car 20 min down the road to drop off the car and catch a shuttle back so we could get going. All Florida Spring water has a year round temperature of 72 degrees. I know that doesn't sound that cold but trust me it was..

Our trip took us 3 hours and we can't wait to do it again. They only allow 750 people per day so they tell you to get there early.

After our float down the river we headed to the city of High Springs. This town was filled with thousands of antique stores. We stopped to walk around the little town and check out the small town life. We were told to eat at a place where all the locals go. It was called Floyd's Diner. We stopped in for some lunch and it was a 60's joint straight out of Happy Days. A huge statue of Elvis greets you as you walk through the front door. After lunch we started back and rented some movies for the night.
Sunday we hit the Flea Market, ate lunch at BBQ Bills near the house. We then decided to drive to Fanning Springs and go to the Fanning Springs State Park.
There were quite a lot of people there swimming in the Spring. Jesse dove off the boardwalk along with everyone else. Yes I was chicken and the water was freezing!!
After our long day we decided to drive home Sunday night just to get a jump on the traffic coming home. Today was spent at the beach before returning to work tomorrow.

Doing a lot of nothing..

Not too much to report at the moment. We are getting ready for the 4th of July. Tomorrow's agenda consists of the gym, cooking on the grill, biking to the beach for a concert and later watching the fireworks. Jesse bought baby back ribs for our cook out so I am looking forward to getting my eat on. We were invited to a few parties but have declined so that we can do our own thing.

This weekend we will be in Chiefland enjoying Dad's property while he is away at Wanda's house in North Carolina. We are hoping to do some rafting down one of the rivers.

We have not seen a post in about a week from Rinah and Skyler. I hope all is well and that they are having a great time. Speaking of blogs.......... Hmmmmm I think I will name the names.. Joaquin and Karen!!!! You have dropped of the face of the earth. You might as well just give up your blog names so someone else can use them... lololol
Before I go I leave you with a picture of Jazzy enjoying the mulch we laid down. See Ya!!
