Camping for the New Year
This year we camped at Bahia Honda. The park is located just south of Marathon Key in the Florida Keys. The first day was sunny and warm and the island was beautiful. They said no dogs at the shore line but of course we had to break some rules. Capone loves to play in the water. After we set up camp we started to explore our side of the island and went for a swim with the dog. After a little dinner we set off to explore the other end of the island where the old Flagler railroad was built.
It was destroyed in a 1935 hurricane.
The sunset was amazing and Capone made a friend.
On the second day we set off for Key West.
We walked the island and had drinks at the Hog's Breath Salon. Jesse ate the biggest oysters I have ever seen while we both put back several beers. We wandered our way over to El Siboney for lunch and had the best Cuban food. We eventually headed back to our campsite after everyone was tired. We enjoyed a colder night at the site and headed back home in the morning. We definetely would like to go back to this camp site again.
